Herman Back In At Bordelais
Story By
Carmy Joseph |
It is official – Hilary Herman has been appointed the Director of the Bordelais Correctional Facility. His appointment came from the Governor-General on October 19th. On Thursday - Internal Security Minister Guy Mayers met with staff from the Bordelais Correctional Facility to formally tell them of the choice from the Public Service Commission. |
Bordelais employees are represented by the Prison Welfare Association – a body that stated publicly on a number of occasions it would resist all attempt to return Herman to his post as Director. It was a stance the Minister says is currently being investigated by the Public Service Commission because it may have breached the Staff Orders governing the public service. Mayers says he is not worried since the Association has pledged to work with his Ministry in making Herman’s return to Bordelais a smooth one.
Our cameras caught a somber looking Felix ahead of the planned meeting with the Minister – held at Bordelais.
He had previously intimated the deal was done with Herman and appeared ready to move before the official announcement. Mayers says Herman’s return remains a date to be known in the future.
Herman remains the only Director to have been appointed to run Bordelais. He left the post after his contract expired. |

Story By
Carmy Joseph
|
The Senior Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health says no date has been set for when Saint Lucia will receive the H1N1 vaccine from CARICOM. Dr Merline Fredericks says even when the vaccine is received – it will not be enough to inoculate everyone in the country. Additionally – people who are most at risk of infection will be given priority to receive it. |
Dr Frederick says the country continues to record a decline in the number of people who are experiencing flu like symptoms. And while the numbers of school children in the North who have symptoms have decreased – it appears to have gone in the opposite direction in the South.
The Senior Medical Officer has also issued an advisory to people ahead of Jounen Kweyol activities on the week-end. She says it is best to be safe and save your life to enjoy future events than to place yourself at unnecessary risk. Saint Lucia has recorded over 50 cases of the H1N1 virus but no deaths.
